Strumming Towards Happiness

My first month with Guitar
After completing my engineering, I got a job and moved to Bangalore. A few months into the job, life slowly settled into a routine. I felt exhausted in evening not because of the job stress, but because of chill routine and having nothing to do apart from my job/carreer. Somewhere I realized I needed something more than just career to keep life interesting.
Since childhood, I have been someone who loves to take up new things and challenges. I am the person who is obsessed with the task itself rather than the outcome of it. To fill the void of new challenge, I decided to buy Guitar and learn it.
Once I got Guitar, I researched for good online resources and started with Justin Guitar platform. In the beginning, even simple things felt challenging placing fingers correctly, switching between chords, and getting the strumming right. I was profoundly happy when I learnt to play the Happy Birthday song. It was a simple tune, but it was a real milestone for me. I even played it during my friend’s birthday, which made it more memorable.
I try to play atleast 15 min everyday. Somedays feel ordinary but on other days something magical happens. I will be playing and switching the chords which I used to think impossible at this stage and will take time. Sometimes my hands coordinate so well such that after playing it, I would pause and ask myself “Did I really just play that?”. These moments give me immense belief in myself and boosting my confidence overtime.
So far so good, I have learnt 8 chords, 1 song. There is still a long road ahead. But the progress till now has been awesome. Moreover Guitar has bought me a sense of curiosity, challenge, and a small pocket of happiness at the end of each day.
